New board advisor signals SPG’s next phase of growth
December 8, 2022
Technology and transformation business SPG has appointed Susan Bell as a board advisor.
The move marks a continued investment in skills at Newcastle-headquartered SPG, which has set its sights on the next phase of its growth.
The group, which also has offices in Leeds, includes SPG Transformation, SPG Resourcing and SPG Software, and provides a suite of solutions that span people, digital transformation and specialist software.
Over the last 12 months, it has celebrated impressive client wins and expansion into new office premises, in both Newcastle and Leeds, to accommodate the growing team, which now stands at more than 50.
Susan, who brings more than 30 years’ industry experience – which includes time as chief executive of Durham-based Waterstons – is an independent advisor passionate about championing the region’s thriving tech sector.
As Waterstons’ boss, she led the business and technology company through successful growth and profitability, while maintaining the purpose and culture as it scaled.
Susan said: “I’ve always been attracted to companies with a strong sense of purpose, that deliver meaningful work and put people at the core, and SPG epitomises this.
“They’re ambitious, innovative, and committed to being the change for their customers.
“Having previously worked in high-growth companies, I’m acutely aware of the challenges and the immense opportunities that come with scale – contributing strategically and exploring new possibilities with the team is where I look forward to adding best value.
“The business already has an incredibly impressive client list and a progressive approach to be proud of.
“With big ambitions for the future, it’s a really exciting time for me to get to know the business and support the board as they continue to map their future plans.”
Gareth Humphreys, co-founder and consulting partner at SPG Transformation, added: “We are really pleased to welcome Susan to the SPG team as advisor to the board.
“We have big plans and an exciting vision for the business, our people and our clients, so having someone with a track record for success supporting and advising on that vision is a great position to be in.
“‘Be the change’ is at the forefront of our company values and our business is built on the ethos that tech can only create real impact when the right people are behind it.
“That ethos drives our continued investment and passion to bring in the best skills to support our success.
“Susan’s experience in the tech sector is unrivalled and her passion for unlocking potential in people and companies fits perfectly with SPG and our ambitious plans for 2023 and beyond.”
