New partnership to help graduates access top level careers
April 20, 2017
REED NCFE is a joint venture company between public service provider Reed in Partnership, and award-winning awarding body NCFE.
REED NCFE’s parent company works with nearly 30,000 employers across the North East and maintains the UK’s largest jobs website – reed.co.uk.
The partnership between REED NCFE and the University will involve the recruitment agency supporting students by directing them towards relevant graduate schemes and coaching them on skills such as interview techniques and CV writing.
Students at Teesside will also have access to a bespoke jobs finding service where REED NCFE will work with local companies to match students with specific skills to companies who are looking for graduates with those skills.
Nick Hughes, Senior Operations Manager for REED NCFE, said: ‘This is an important investment by Teesside University into its students’ future employment prospects and is an exciting and innovative way of matching students to jobs, in turn helping boost the region’s economy.
‘We firmly believe that the REED NCFE initiative is the right solution to address any potential disconnect between employers and universities.
‘Our experience of working with other universities has seen a huge increase in the number of graduates securing higher level jobs and we hope and expect the same success for Teesside University.’
Meryl Levington, Head of Student Futures at Teesside University, added: ‘Teesside University plays an important role in the region’s economy by helping businesses to grow by providing job-ready graduates with the skills they need.
‘This partnership with REED NCFE will be more than a job-finding service used by students in their final year or once they graduate.
‘Students will work with REED NCFE throughout the course of their degree to ensure that when they leave the University we can match them with exactly the right sort of vacancies.
‘We are really looking forward to seeing the results of this partnership.
‘Businesses will benefit from having talented graduates to match their needs and our student and learning experience will improve even further with students knowing that they will be able to access top level careers upon graduation.’
