New workspace opens for business at Quorum Park

New collaborative workspace at Newcastle’s Quorum Park has opened for business following completion of a six-figure renovation project.

As many people return to workplaces post lockdown, two new boardroom style-meeting rooms, which can be combined into a single large seminar room, have been created at Q11. Relaxation pod areas and a large communal space have also been added along with a kitchen and pool table.

The changes have been specifically designed to complement the building’s existing features and come as the office park continues to attract new occupiers keen to take advantage of the central location and access to local services and transport links.

National sales promotion consultancy Metrisk and low-cost energy supplier National Utility Hub have both taken space over the summer to accommodate their expansion plans and growing demand for services.

Property and construction consultancy Gleeds relocated its Newcastle office to Quorum Park in 2016 with a team of 12 staff. Over the past five years, the team has grown to 36, with 18 staff recruited during the Covid-19 pandemic.

For Gleeds, the move has been a great success and in the wake of Covid, Q11 is helping them to employ a more flexible way of working. Peter Burns, director at Gleeds, said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing our team members back at Quorum now that we’ll be spending about half our working week in the office.

“At Gleeds, we employ lots of professionals like building surveyors, project managers and quantity surveyors. Our projects very much depend on teamwork and sharing ideas and expertise, so having certain team members in the office on the same day allows for exactly the kind of face-to-face water cooler moments of brainstorming we need. For younger staff members, such as new graduates, the office environment hugely benefits their personal development especially because it lets them take part in discussions and learn directly from more experienced colleagues.

“The quality of the office space and wide range of amenities available here at Quorum are hard to beat. The new collaboration space within Q11 is a fantastic asset to the park, and for us, it’s a real bonus to have it available for meetings and as additional workspace.”

Offices at Quorum Park provide versatile, open-plan floor plates designed with freedom in mind – occupiers can customise the space to meet the new requirements of a returning workforce.

They can be adapted as technology evolves, working patterns change and personnel come and go while businesses benefit from the ability to design a fit-out that reflects the size and working ethos of their workforce rather than asking people to adapt to the building in which they work.
