Newcastle International Airport announces new Chief Executive

Nick takes up his role at a time when the north east’s largest airport is experiencing its strongest growth in almost a decade. During 2016 passenger numbers grew by 6% and a number of new routes started or were announced.
Prior to joining the airport, Nick spent six years as CFO at North East headquartered Aesica Pharmaceuticals. He began his career at Price Waterhouse where he spent 13 years, most recently as a Corporate Finance Director in its Manchester office.
Nick Jones, said “I am delighted to be confirmed as Chief Executive at one of the UK’s most successful airports. I am passionate about the north east region and my aim will be to further improve connectivity for businesses as well as providing popular holiday destinations for people in the region. I also want to ensure we build upon our reputation for providing the most welcoming customer experience.”
Councillor Iain Malcolm, Leader of South Tyneside Council, and Chair of the LA7 Airport Holding Company, said “On behalf of the Local Authority Shareholders I am pleased that Nick Jones has accepted the offer to lead the airport at this important time. Our region needs a strong international gateway airport, generating huge benefits for the economy and many thousands of jobs.
