NOF invests in senior team with experienced appointment

An energy sector business development organisation has made a senior appointment.

Durham-based NOF has welcomed John Leer as head of stakeholder and business engagement.

Officials say John – who has more than 20 years’ inward investment experience – will unite NOF members and partners with growth opportunities.

He has also succeeded Caroline Lofthouse as cluster manager for Energi Coast, which operates as the North East’s offshore wind cluster.

John [pictured, above], who counts time with Tees Valley Development Company on his CV, and has supported the growth ambitions of firms including Darlington-based engine maker Cummins and Middlesbrough’s GB Bank, said he is excited to get started.

He said: “Having worked in partnership with NOF for many years, I have always been impressed with its comprehensive approach to helping members secure new business and contribute to the energy transition.

“I am very passionate about British industry and see significant opportunities in the energy sector that our members can benefit from, while contributing to achieving a balanced energy mix.”

Joanne Leng, NOF chief executive, added: “John brings extensive experience, which bring advantages to our growing network of members and partners that are playing a central role in the UK and international energy industry.

“He has been integral in attracting important inward investment to the UK, and we are confident that will continue in the role as cluster manager of Energi Coast.”
