North East businessman helping to create the African Amazon

Steve Pugh, a North East-based businessman and entrepreneur, is helping a consortium create a new platform, which could rival Amazon in the developing world.

‘Ojami’ is a store aggregator technology platform, currently in development, which aims to connect buyers and sellers in emerging economies provide an online shopping experience and fast delivery in as little as two hours.

Management consultant and Growth Strategy Roadmap founder, Steve, based in Gateshead, was approached by Ojami’s parent company, De-Miropass Technologies Ltd, CEO Adejoro Oluwashola.

Steve said: “In large countries with low population densities and minimal infrastructure, the mega warehouse model of the major players simply does not work. Combined with significantly more traffic and also a culture where ecommerce is still relatively new, this brings huge opportunity.”

“The approach of the Ojami team is embedded in the local culture and solves all of the major headaches with businesses of this kind, including product returns, whilst also supporting local retailers.

“I will be bringing my background in business strategy, problem solving and marketing and communications to communicate the vision of the team into a proposition that is attractive to investors.”
