North East England Chamber of Commerce backs GiveToLocal
August 19, 2020
Tyneside-based GiveToLocal has joined the North East England Chamber of Commerce, in a move set to help expand the positive impact made by the organisation’s growing network of corporate partners.
As part of their commitment to help revitalise and rejuvenate community sport, GiveToLocal connects local clubs to the businesses within their community.
With over 3,000 businesses currently benefiting from membership with the Chamber, the new agreement between the two organisations will give businesses across the region the opportunity to support their local community sports clubs through GiveToLocal’s innovative service.
And North East England Chamber of Commerce chief executive, James Ramsbotham, is confident that GiveToLocal can help communities across the North East to thrive.
“We are delighted to welcome GiveToLocal to our membership and appreciate hugely their commercial support of our publication, Contact,” said James.
“The whole premise of GiveToLocal – helping to build sports communities in our region – resonates with our own work on behalf of the business community.
“Both of us have the aim of ensuring the North East has a chance to thrive, even in these challenging times.
“Their work to help finance and build grassroots sports is outstanding. We wish them every success and will support them in every possible way to build their networks.”
GiveToLocal is focused upon backing grassroots sport, boosting local business and building an effective, community-focused corporate network.
Recently, the organisation entered into a new partnership with Britain’s most successful basketball franchise, Newcastle Eagles.
And Newcastle Eagles’ managing director and owner Paul Blake believes that GiveToLocal can provide businesses across the region with a wide array of benefits.
“The vision behind GiveToLocal brings so much value not just to our community sports clubs but to the business community too,” explained Paul.
“I instantly recognised that when I found out how it works.
“To see the vision so quickly coming to reality gives us a lot of confidence in the impact GiveToLocal can have for basketball and all the other sports it supports.
“For the first time there is an organisation out there that can work full-time to pro-actively join the dots between corporate social responsibility, community sport and tangible results for businesses.
“It’s exciting to see. GiveToLocal is an organisation we as a club are very proud to be associated with.”
Having launched its service nationwide last year, GiveToLocal is already working with more than 50,000 teams across 15 different sports.
And GiveToLocal CEO and co-founder Neil Gardiner is delighted by the level of support the organisation has already received from both the sporting and business communities.
“While GiveToLocal may have been 3 years in the making, we’re still very new to the vast majority of people,” said Neil.
“To already be in a position where we can look to the support of organisations such as the North East England Chamber of Commerce and the Newcastle Eagles when it comes to making an impact and delivering against our vision, is an immense source of pride.
“As a team we are results-oriented and very straight-talking. We are happy to be measured as we measure ourselves daily. We have created the environment and the processes that enable us to deliver against our aims, in a highly scalable way, as opposed to merely holding out our aims as attractive soundbites. Our approach resonates with a lot of people, from the world of sport and the world of business.
“We have some huge announcements coming over the next few weeks and a lot more irons in the fire.
“As a team we are wholly confident in our ability to make a difference in communities up and down the country and to add value to the efforts of businesses that are already taking steps to do the same.”
