North East England Chamber of Commerce hails fresh era with new executive team

A business membership organisation says it is ready to play “its full part in creating a stronger, fairer North East” following the creation of a senior panel.

The North East England Chamber of Commerce has set up an executive team it says will “serve the interests of members across the region”.

Jennifer Rycroft has been promoted to executive director – membership, with fellow team member Rhiannon Bearne becoming executive director – policy and representation.

They have been joined by Aneela Ali, who, as executive director – finance and corporate services, will deliver financial forecasting, support the Chamber’s corporate strategy and lead on commercial activities.

The former LNER worker’s arrival builds on previous roles with the Chamber, which included representing the transport sector on the membership body’s council and being part of its race, ethnicity and diversity commission.

“I’m looking forward to working with our members to support their growth and prosperity,” said Aneela, whose CV also includes time at Alstom Power, Avery Dennison and Sage.

She added: “I’m very passionate about the region and our people, and will use the role to promote how we can truly level up, with the Chamber as an influential force for good.”

John McCabe, chief executive, said: “The North East economy is going through a period of change, with challenges to overcome and enormous potential to seize.

“Jen and Rhiannon contribute so much to our work, and have consistently proven themselves as outstanding leaders in the business.

“Aneela joins us with a strong track record of achieving commercial success and developing and implementing resource strategies to grow finances, ensuring long-term sustainability.

“The Chamber is stronger for having Jen, Rhiannon and Aneela in these senior roles.”

John added the trio have joined the Chamber’s main board with immediate effect.
