Office block set for overhaul in Darlington

A 1960’s office building in Darlington is set for a major transformation thanks to a six-figure investment by owners, Kans and Kandy Properties.

Silverstone Building Consultancy has been instructed to manage the refurbishment of Forsyth House, which is located on Woodland Road at the edge of Darlington town centre, in an established office location.

The three-storey office building, which was recently added to Kans and Kandy’s growing commercial property portfolio, provides a range of office suites with a managed reception and on-site parking.

The refurbishment project includes upgrading the reception and all internal common areas as well as replacing the existing windows with double glazing to improve thermal performance. External areas of the property will also be improved to provide better car parking and public access.

Ben Hunter, director at Silverstone Building Consultancy said: “We are delighted to have been instructed on this refurbishment project. The investment in the premises will not only lower the building’s U-Value by reducing the level of heat loss, but it will also transform it from a dated 60’s building to more modern, desirable office space which will be aesthetically much more appealing to current and future occupiers.”

The property, which was formerly a Regus centre, is occupied on the ground and first floor by the NHS, as well as Bupa Dental on the first floor, whilst the top floor provides serviced offices with a number of small local businesses currently in occupation and a number of suites available to let ranging from 300 sq ft to 1500 sq ft.

Peter Razaq, director of Kans and Kandy added: “This property is in a great location with Darlington town centre lying just 100 metres to the east providing excellent amenities for occupiers. I am confident the proposed works will vastly improve the building’s attractiveness to the market as well as creating a better place to work for the existing occupiers.”

The refurbishment works are due to complete in the summer.
