Pacifica Group’s 50-job expansion plan to meet growing demand

A national home services company is bolstering its workforce to build on strong results.

Pacifica Group plans to recruit 50 engineers to increase its growing presence in the domestic energy and appliance repair sectors.

The business, headquartered in Houghton le Spring, includes Pacifica Home Services – which delivers heating, plumbing, renewables and insulation services – and Pacifica Appliance Services – known for repairing washing machines, dishwashers, televisions and mobile phones.

Now, with turnover expected to reach £53 million in the financial year to March 2020 – up from the £41 million recorded to March 2019 – bosses say they want 50 new engineers to take its team of directly employed field-based workers to more than 300.

The move comes after the business took its team from 399 to 470 during the 2018 financial year, with that number expected to go beyond 500 in this financial period.

Pacifica’s flagship brands include 0800 Repair Gas and 0800 Repair, and Kevin Brown, chief executive, said the growing reputation of its various divisions is making a big impact on the group’s progress.

He said: “This has been a strong period of growth – and to meet increasing demand we are planning to recruit an additional 50 engineers.

“We have secured a number of significant contracts and renewals, which have bolstered the group’s performance and are supported by our continued expansion in the housing sector (where we are) providing services such as central heating installations and renewable energy solutions to the new build and social housing markets.

“We expect these activities to generate further growth in our current financial year, particularly with the installation of home insulation, along with further developing our warranty services division and our domestic appliance and heating system repair operations, which currently generate in excess of 6000 jobs per week across the UK.

Undertaking around 15,000 services and repairs each year, Pacifica Home Services annually completes 10,000 heating installations and 10,000 insulation installations.

Within the division is renewable energy systems operator Oakes Energy Services Ltd, which provides solutions including air and ground source heating, solar PV and mine water heat extraction to the domestic and commercial property markets.
