Plans revealed for £1.5 million US-themed Newcastle Quayside restaurant

A developer has unveiled plans to create a £1.5 million American-inspired eatery.

VictorsNewc Limited wants to transform the Las Iguanas building, on Newcastle Quayside, into a 175-diner venue.

Known as Victors Newcastle, bosses say the restaurant – if approved – will open this year, creating 50 full-time jobs.

They add it will be inspired by the Hamptons – the New York seaside community – and boast burgers, sushi and raw bar platters.

A developer spokesperson said: “This will not only create new jobs and provide a boost for a great city centre location, but also offer a quality dining location where people can stay and experience the city at its best.”

John Aynsley, senior planner at Newcastle-based planning and development consultancy Lichfields, added: “This is a sensitively designed development that represents a significant contribution to the vibrancy and vitality of an important local economic sector.

“It’s in an attractive location, with good transport links nearby, as well as being within easy walking distance to a range of facilities and services.”
