Port of Tyne appoints global infrastructure expert as non-executive director

The Port of Tyne has appointed Julia Prescot as a non-executive director, hoping to draw on her experience in managing global infrastructure investments.

Julia joins the board after co-founding and working as chief strategy officer of Meridiam, a global infrastructure fund based in Paris with £7 billion funds under management in the UK, Europe, North America and Africa.

Meridiam’s activity has created somewhere in the region of £60 billion of new infrastructure and the company is a viewed as a key player in responsible and community-based sustainable investment.

Julia also holds a number of other senior management roles across the UK, including sitting as a commissioner on the UK’s National Infrastructure Commission and on the advisory panel of Glennmont Renewable Energy Fund.

Previous roles include head of European infrastructure for the Bank of Scotland and head of project advisory for Charterhouse Bank. Julia is also co-founder of the group Women Leaders in Infrastructure.
