Ramside Estate makes the fastest 50
October 13, 2017
The company behind some of the region’s leading hotels, bars and restaurants is celebrating after being named as one of the fastest growing firms in the North East
Ramside Estates has been listed in the 2017 Fastest 50 rankings, which recognise outstanding business achievements by local companies.
With a workforce of more than 600 employees across the group, Ramside Estates owns some of the region’s most luxurious hotels including Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa, Hardwick Hall and Bowburn Hall, all in County Durham.
It also operates Ramside Event Catering, one of the largest privately owned catering firms, along with Newcastle bars Colonel Porter’s and Beyond Bar at The Gate, Gateshead’s Lancastrian Suite and the Pavilion Café at Alnwick Garden.
Now it has been recognised in the annual list, organised by North East law firm Ward Hadaway, which identifies the fastest growing, profit-making private companies.
To qualify, companies must have turnover in excess of £1million in the last three years and have made profits in each of the past three years’ accounts.
Ramside Estates is listed at 34th overall, boasting a turnover in excess of £24million over the last three years, which represents an average turnover growth of 17.5 per cent.
“The news that we have been recognised in the Fastest 50 has been welcomed by everyone involved in the company,” said John Adamson, Director of Ramside Estates.
“It has been a very exciting couple of years, as we have worked hard on the expansion of Ramside Hall to create what we believe is the region’s most luxurious spa, and we’ve seen growth in all of our other businesses too.
“We have also expanded our portfolio this year with the addition of Colonel Porters in Newcastle, and with a few more exciting projects in the pipeline, it’s a very exciting time.
“I’m delighted our growth has been recognised with our listing in the Fastest 50. It is testament to all of the hard work that has gone into the company, and the sheer amount of effort that our staff has made to help us arrive at this point. We look forward to building on this for the future.”
