South Tyneside Job Fuse service launched to support individuals and employers

A new job service has been launched to support regional employers and workers who have been affected as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

South Tyneside Job Fuse is a joint service created by Invest South Tyneside, the National Careers Service and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

It will connect employers who have vacancies with people in South Tyneside who are available to start work.

The National Careers Service will provide advice and support to those who have lost their jobs as part of the South Tyneside Job Fuse package.

Local people can contact the National Careers Service helpline for free, impartial and expert careers advice as well as practices guidance such as CV writing and access to training.

Councillor John Anglin, lead member for regeneration and economy, at South Tyneside Council, said: “South Tyneside Jobs Fuse will provide a vital service for those affected by employment issues due to coronavirus.

“The National Careers Service will also provide service to match people who have been made redundant to job vacancies where possible and provide additional support if people need help with employability or skills.”

Leanne Misaljevich, area manager for the National Careers Service in the North East added: “We face uncertain times and in response to this we are delighted to be working with DWP and Invest South Tyneside to form the South Tyneside Jobs Fuse.

“The National Careers Service is uniquely positioned to be able to provide free, impartial careers and employment advice and guidance to residents and employers in the South Tyneside area, all delivered by our team of professional careers advisers.”
