Steel River Consultants eyes growth after £30,000 investment

An independent health and safety consultancy is eyeing further growth following a £30,000 head office investment.

Steel River Consultants is looking at plans to open offices into London, Edinburgh and Bristol.

The firm’s ambitions come with it set to achieve £1.75 million turnover this year, having reported £1.2 million for 2019.

They also follow the completion of a £30,000 redevelopment of its head office at Preston Farm Business Park, based on the outskirts of Stockton.

The extension, helped by a £14,968 grant from the Tees Valley Business Compass, includes a new boardroom, break-out area and updated IT systems.

Referring to its growth plans, managing director Graham Tyerman [pictured below] said the business – one of the largest organisations of its type in the UK’s renewable energy sector – is well placed to enjoy further success.

“Working with notable clients on various continents has put us in a brilliant position to showcase the talent the North East has to offer,” said Graham, referring to Steel River’s support for hundreds of projects in countries including China, Norway and the US.

“Investment into the business has enabled us to increase opportunities and turnover and further cement our development.

“Updating the building and creating a more comfortable working environment is fantastic to continue the development of the business,” he added.

Graham added the company’s progress will be aided by the arrival of new safety consultants.

Andrea Nichols is working with a leading European solar energy company, with Ian Richardson overseeing the final elements of an offshore wind project in the South of England.

“We’re putting the foundations in place for further growth of the business on both safety, costs and project management,” added Graham.
