Tekmar Group hails subsea sector prowess after sealing £10 million deals

A marine engineer has secured deals worth more than £10 million.

Darlington-based Tekmar Group’s Pipeshield International and Subsea Innovation divisions are delivering equipment to offshore energy schemes.

Pipeshield, known for subsea mattresses that defend pipelines and cables from damage, has picked up “multiple contracts” worth more than £8 million to design and make protective equipment for Middle East projects.

Subsea Innovation is working on a launch and recovery system – which are used to operate underwater robots – with the near £2 million deal including delivery of an A-frame, winch and hydraulic power unit.

Steven Howlett, Pipeshield managing director, said: “The contracts help consolidate our position in the Middle East and create a basis for further regional expansion supporting our growth strategy.

“They are testament to our subsea engineering and project management expertise.”

Dave Thompson, Subsea Innovation managing director, added: “This contract award further strengthens our position as a leader in the sector and supports the continued growth of our business.”
