The Core hits 100 per cent occupancy

The flagship workspace on the Newcastle Helix development, the Core, has hit 100 per cent occupancy.
The Core is aimed at SMEs and was built as a research-led innovation cluster, opening its doors in 2014.
It is one of four specialist workspaces on the Newcastle Helix site that includes the Biosphere, which opened in November this year, the Catalyst, due to open soon, and the Lumen, which will open in early 2020.
The Core offers 29,000 sq ft of flexible office and event space and is now home to 26 SMEs spread across the building’s seven floors, all working within the themes of future city challenges and digitally enabled sustainability.
Situated in the West of the city centre, not far from St James’ Park, Newcastle Helix is close to Newcastle University’s urban sciences building.
As such, workspaces like the Core will play a critical role in the growth of the city’s science and tech ecosystem, supporting businesses and top researchers in a new innovation community.
The Core works directly with businesses looking to expand out into the wider Helix development, which has been designed in partnership with Newcastle University, Newcastle City Council and Legal & General; to bring together industry leaders, businesses and top researchers.

At 100 percent occupied and with a strong waiting list of businesses looking to secure a workspace and connect with this innovative community, we are thrilled to be supporting a number of our larger occupiers with their onward journeys to the Catalyst, Biosphere and Lumen buildings.”
