The Sweet Beet appoints social media & web manager

The Newcastle based food condiment producer The Sweet Beet has confirmed the appointment of a new social media and web manager who joins the company with immediate effect.
Louis Rowan Glazzard, 22 from Leeds, joined the expanding firm via Newcastle University’s intern scheme and has impressed the company that much that its founder Lizzy Hodcroft has made the appointment a permanent one.
Over the next 12 months, The Sweet Beet has said it will be focusing on improving its internal structure to allow for additional expansion and new product development and hopes to employ an operational manager and a new sales team.
Speaking of the company’s latest recruit, Lizzy Hodcroft, said: “Louis presented himself as a fast learner that was able to make decisions for himself. As a startup, The Sweet Beet was looking for someone that would be able to engage our consumers, as well as being confident in their area of expertise. Louis certainly showed a hunger for knowledge and has quickly settled in.
“The North East is brimming with inspirational, hard-working creatives. There is also an amazing comradery to lift each other up and support local business. It’s a great place to live and a wonderful place to do business and we’re happy that we’re moving in the right direction and investing in talent that has been nurtured right here.
“Without the community that Newcastle’s startup space provides, I certainly wouldn’t have found the confidence to push forward in my business. I’m so grateful for the belief, support and guidance that is available for the small businesses throughout the North East.”
The appointment of The Sweet Beet’s new social media and web manager comes on the back of the news that the company has been shortlisted for the 2018 NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
The Sweet Beet fended off some tough competition in order to make the regional shortlist for the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, with a record number of businesses entering the awards nationally across the wide range of categories.
Despite only trading for just over a year as a Limited company, The Sweet Beet has racked up a number of achievements and national acclaim for its condiment range, which is now stocked in over 90 farm and deli stores throughout the UK.
In early May 2018, The Sweet Beet received national airtime when BBC 2’s culinary expert Nigel Barden put the company’s Habanero Lime Jellythrough its paces on Simon Mayo’s Drivetime show, which regularly attracts 6 million listeners. And recently doted on the condiment, using it as his “magic ingredient” for Fine Food Digest Magazine.
It has also appeared on BBC’s Farmer’s Country Showdown this year and was recently selected as Company of the Month by Food and Drink Matters Magazine.
