United Living Group reveals £8 million Peterlee affordable housing plans

Plans have been submitted for an £8 million east Durham affordable housing scheme.

United Living Group hopes to build 59 two, three and four-bedroomed homes and bungalows in Peterlee.

Bosses say the development – which has been designed by Newcastle architect Ergo Projects – could create and support dozens of local construction jobs, as well posts in the supply chain.

Durham County Council’s planning department is expected to deliver a verdict on the proposals next month.

If approved, on-site work is planned to start in 2022, with the first release of homes due to be completed by Christmas next year.

Adrian Reay, Ergo Projects’ managing director, said: “Our plans will see a development that will meet the needs of the local community and deliver high-quality homes for the area with good access to local services.

“As well as a good variety of housing types, the wider proposals for the site are equally impressive and we will be excited to see the finished product.

“As architectural technologists, we want to work on rewarding projects and for clients with ambition and quality solutions.

“With our designs, we have also focused on aspects around green credentials and ensuring the homes are as energy efficient as possible.”
