Wallsend’s RESS Furniture eyes expansion after promising start

A furniture firm born during the pandemic is looking to create jobs following a strong first year.

RESS Furniture aims to expand its administration, design and assembly departments.

The Wallsend-based firm’s commitment comes as UK and Irish demand, complemented by interest from the Middle East and South East Asia, leaves it primed to record turnover of more than £135,000.

The company – which employs six staff and was founded in November last year – makes custom-made furniture from steel, marble, glass and wood, with its product range including consoles, coffee and side tables, breakfast bars and mirrors.

Grant Davidson, company director, said: “We have had a very successful 11 months, and with increasing interest from the international market, we are focusing our efforts on producing furniture and accessories that can be shipped with ease to locations outside of the UK.”

Prior to launching RESS Furniture, Grant enjoyed a successful career in sales and business development for a construction company, travelling across Europe and the Middle East for more than eight years.

Having built a strong background in design and manufacturing, he identified a niche in the market for custom fabricated steel furniture.
