Fenwick celebrates 50 years of Christmas Windows

FENWICK Newcastle is excited to announce details for its most magical window yet which will be live streamed on Sunday, 7th November at 7.30pm, exclusively on Facebook.

For the past 50 years, Fenwick has brought the Newcastle community together through the unveiling of its iconic Christmas window.  This year will be no different, so pull on your favourite woolly jumper, gather with your friends and family and join Fenwick, from the comfort of your home, for a festive extravaganza, as the windows are revealed live exclusively on Facebook.

Fenwick is pulling out all the stops this year to bring a spectacular show full of magical moments, merry surprises and an appearance from Santa himself.

Keeping the community safe and avoiding overcrowding remains a top priority.  Fenwick has worked with Newcastle City Council to ensure it can keep the reveal as safe as possible.  This year’s reveal will only be viewable via the Facebook live stream allowing friends, families and their loved ones to experience it from all over the world.

On the evening of the reveal, the public are kindly asked not to travel to Northumberland Street to watch the reveal in person. A section of Northumberland Street will be closed to the public, making the window and surrounding area not viewable.

A small group of guests from the Newcastle community will be watching the filming of the reveal in person, including children and families from Fenwick’s partner schools, hospitals and charities.

Everyone is warmly encouraged to come and view the window throughout the festive season, from Monday 8th November through to early January.

Kieran McBride, Fenwick Newcastle Store Director, said: “While we’ve unveiled some spectacular displays over the past 50 years, this year’s Christmas window promises to be our most memorable yet. We’re very excited to share this moment with the local community and beyond through our Facebook live stream.

“We’ve been working closely with the local council to ensure the window reveal can remain safe, which is why we will again be closing Northumberland Street to avoid overcrowding and encouraging families to stream our exciting live reveal show from home. This follows the success of last year’s virtual reveal which was watched by hundreds of thousands across the globe. It’s really important for us to give back to the local community and with this in mind a small group of local school children and charity partners will be invited to the event itself. Everyone is warmly encouraged to come and visit the window throughout the festive period.”
