July 23, 2021
TUI UK announces the expansion of its holiday programme for summer 2022 from Newcastle Airport with the introduction of new routes to Costa Brava and Dubrovnik and increased flying to over 11 different destinations.
In their 50th year at Newcastle Airport, TUI will see an additional based aircraft next summer, providing even more flight options for customers to choose from with increased frequency of flights to customer favourites Antalya, Larnaca, Mallorca, Tenerife, Rhodes and Zakynthos.
Next summer will see two new routes available from Newcastle Airport – Costa Brava, Spain and Dubrovnik, Croatia. A popular customer favourite, Costa Brava will offer several different resorts for customers, with flights operating twice a week. Flights to Dubrovnik will operate once a week, giving customers flying from Newcastle Airport access to the Marella Cruises programme, including itineraries such as Adriatic Affair and Sail Three Seas. Newcastle Airport will also see the continuation of twice weekly flights to Faro, Portugal which were reintroduced in May this year.
Due to popular customer demand, TUI will increase its frequency of flights to over 11 destinations, with many destinations increased to two flights a week or more. The largest programme from Newcastle will be Turkey, with nine flights operating a week, six of which are to Dalaman.
The summer 2022 programme from Newcastle Airport will see 29 destinations on offer, including the choice of seven Greek Islands and two long haul options with flights to Cancun and Orlando Melbourne International, the new Florida gateway for TUI customers.
To offer customers even more flexibility and to make up for those missing a summer holiday this year, TUI will increase flights to several destinations to offer 10/11-night holidays for customers travelling from Newcastle Airport. The number of flights to Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Heraklion and Enfidha in Tunisia increased to twice a week for summer 2022.
Richard Sofer, commercial & business development director at TUI said: “As the airline with the largest regional airport network in the UK, we’re committed to offering our customers as much availability as possible to our great range of holidays. We’re delighted to expand our summer 2022 programme from Newcastle with two new routes and increased flying from our extra based aircraft, providing even more flight options for our customers.”
Leon McQuaid, head of aviation development at Newcastle Airport said: “This is fantastic news and we are delighted that TUI have reacted to strong demand for travel next summer by choosing to base a fourth aircraft at Newcastle International Airport, bringing with it new destinations and increased flight frequency for our region.
A total of 29 destinations will be offered by TUI next year, including the highest number of flights ever to the Turkish destinations of Antalya and Dalaman – excellent news for passengers wishing to travel to these increasingly popular destinations. The commitment TUI has shown to the Airport is fantastic and what a great way to celebrate their 50th year at Newcastle International Airport for summer 2022.”
