North Shields’ D-Line bought by Luceco in £12.4 million deal

A cable management firm says it is looking forward to “fantastic new opportunities” following a £12.4 million takeover.

North Shields-headquartered D-Line has been bought by Shropshire wiring accessory, electric vehicle charger and LED lighting supplier Luceco.

Officials say the agreement for D-Line, which supplies cabling trunking, floor covers and organisers to clients globally, provides “strong momentum for progress”.

They add the business, which also runs a Kentucky-based subsidiary, will continue to operate from its existing locations, with senior management retaining posts.

Paul Ruddick, D-Line founder, said: “We are proud to have developed a trusted brand and market-leading ranges.

“And we have strong momentum for progress, all made possible by the skills and dedication of our teams and support of shareholders.

John Hornby, Luceco chief executive, added: “D-Line’s product range is a natural fit alongside our existing categories.

“We are particularly excited about the opportunity to leverage its operation in North America to support our growing business in the territory.”

The deal marks an exit for Newcastle-based investor Middleton Enterprises.
