Tech start up Funky Trade launches

A tech start up has launched aiming to help exhibition organisers run events more smoothly.

Funky Trade is led by 24-year old entrepreneur Katy Emmett, based in Newcastle.

Funky Trade is a free to use automated management system designed for organisers to sell exhibition stands, event trade pitches and event catering.

It has been designed to remove the need of printed off applications and constant chasing of payments and insurance documents.

Funky Trade can be used by anyone that requires selling a trade stand for the likes of festivals, markets, exhibitions and catering.

Katy has training in advertising and design and a wealth of experience within the events industry.

She became a business owner at the age of 17 and is now ready to take on her next big challenge with Funky Trade.

The new tech startup is supported and funded by Mighty Events, a leading Yorkshire and North East-based event company.

Katy said: “After experiencing the process of a few different event businesses I couldn’t believe the systems used to sell trade stands, surely printing off hundreds of applications and chasing constant PLI and payments wasn’t the best way of doing it!”

Having worked for some of the largest exhibition shows within Yorkshire and the North East, the desire for a trade management system only grew.

From exhibitions to a Festival field the clear lack of an automated system was evident. Working hand in hand with Mighty Events, the perfect system has been developed, with a wealth of event experience the key features are beneficial for any event organiser.

The business already has the likes of music festivals, dog shows and car shows on board.

Funky Trade is currently running for Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) “Start up of the year and Business and Innovations Award”.
