Aon makes senior appointment to drive growth in the North

Multi-national professional services firm Aon has appointed a regional sales director for the North to drive growth across the region.

Christine Wood joined Aon eight years ago and is now charged with helping businesses navigate a tough insurance market and build resilience in the wake of COVID-19.

As part of Aon’s regional leadership team, Christine is responsible for leading the sale strategy for the company’s nine regional offices including Newcastle, Manchester and Hull, working to develop relationships with local business and the community.

Commenting on her appointed, she said: “It’s a challenging insurance market for businesses – effectively meaning insurance buyers are often getting less for more.

“In addition, the pandemic has tested business resilience, with many employees working from home and creating new areas of exposure in cyber, for example, that need to be addressed as part of every organisation’s risk management strategy.

“Our role is to help businesses navigate this difficult market and get the insurance cover they require as cost effectively as possible, while doing all they can to mitigate their risks.

“It’s not just about selling insurance; there is a lot more we can offer as a business to build firms’ resilience and help them take advantage of additional tools ranging from trade credit solutions to protect balance sheets against bad debt and free up working capital, to exploring ways to protect and develop employee wellbeing.”

With an ambition of ensuring that Aon is the ‘go-to broker’ in the northern region, Christine believes that the key to this objective will be getting close to clients and really understanding their business.

To do that, the company will look for opportunities to grow its team in the North.

Christine added: “We have a great culture at Aon. It is a brilliant place to work and we will be looking to expand our business development team in the coming months as we respond to our clients’ needs.”
