Brims wins Neville Hall contract

Brims Construction has been appointed contractor on the £7.1 million make-over of Newcastle’s Neville Hall, home of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers. Work will start this December, completing in August next year.
The Common Room, a new charity, is managing the redevelopment and refurbishment project. The Grade 2 listed building represents a huge part of the region’s industrial and engineering heritage.
Architects Howarth Litchfield has been appointed and Gardiner and Theobald will act as project managers.
Liz Mayes, director, The Common Room, says the “ambitious and exciting project” will play a key role in ensuring the sustainability of the area of Newcastle with the Lit and Phil and Bolbec Hall adjoining where Westgate Road meets Orchard Street close to the Central Station.
