Eco-friendly domestic housekeeping business cleans up North Tyneside beach

Bright & Beautiful, an award-winning North Tyneside based professional housekeeping franchise business, recently conducted a beach clean in aid of reducing human impact on the environment.

The litter picking operation took place at Blue Flag award-winning Tynemouth Longsands, a mile-long stretch of fine golden sands that is recognised as one of the most painted and photographed beaches in the country. A popular surfing destination, the site has hosted numerous national surfing championships as well as having been used for training by premier league football club Newcastle United.

Helen Ross, franchise owner for Bright & Beautiful North Tyneside, was accompanied by an assembly of six Bright & Beautiful employees to conduct the beach clean. They were also joined by family and friends who were all on hand to help scour Tynemouth Longsands of litter.

While the team found copious amounts of commonly littered items such as plastic bottles and bottle tops, they also remarked that discarded pieces of clothing were among the most popular items of rubbish. In total, the team collected five bags-worth of litter which was later recycled or disposed of.

Helen said: “Having grown up in North Tyneside, I’ve always had a deep connection to the local landscape. It’s quite incredible to think how I used to play on these beaches as a child and now I bring my own children to visit these same beaches.

“We’re very proud to say that North Tyneside has some of the best beaches in the country, but we need to do our bit to keep our beaches looking amazing. I hope that by raising awareness around this issue that we can inspire the rest of the community to take action against littering and do more to protect our environment.”
