IT specialist Pulsant has its Team Valley HQ opened by the Duke of York

The North East welcomed His Royal Highness the Duke of York for the official opening of a new technology centre in Team Valley.

The site, developed by IT company Pulsant, comprises offices and a security and network operations centre.

Pulsant is one of the UK’s leading providers of hybrid IT solutions with a core focus on datacentres and cloud services, together with IT transformation and security.

Around a quarter of it’s revenue is created in the North of England, with more than 1000 clients here including Newcastle United, Ward Hadaway and Visual Soft.

The new regional centre at Team Valley is thought to accommodate 100 staff, over 30 of which have already been recruited this year.

Focusing on networking, security and customer support services, the new hub joins Pulsant’s existing regional centres in Edinburgh and the South of England, all geared up to deliver specialist datacentre and cloud IT solutions.

Prince Andrew’s visit to the site included a guided tour of the facilities and meeting with key Pulsant employees, partners and customers, before unveiling a commemorative plaque marking the formal opening of the office.

Marion Stewart, chief operating officer at Pulsant, said: “The opening of this new office strengthens our presence in the North East and is a further commitment to the region in terms of future job creation and investment in the local economy.

“By bringing our service, support and operations teams together in one site, we’re enhancing our offering to our customers by consolidating our skills and expertise in one place, supported by a unifying culture, toolsets and facilities.”

On his official opening of the new building, Prince Andrew added: “Thank you very much indeed for welcoming me to Pulsant today, I wish you every success. It is particularly nice to be able to visit an organisation with whom we work closely, and with whom I hope we will continue to do so.”

James Rambotham, chief executive at the North East England Chamber of Commerce, said: “Pulsant is a very important player in our region’s IT community, creating highly skilled jobs and putting us at the forefront of the sector in the whole country.

“This business is also a partner member of the Chamber and, as such, a powerful advocate for what the North East needs to grow its economy.

“They help so many other businesses through their generous provision of specialist IT knowledge at Chamber events. We fully support this new centre and wish it every success.”
