NECIT eyes growth after expanding into the US market

A North East company that provides coordinated inspection services for international engineering projects is celebrating the expansion of its operations at home and abroad.

NECIT has recently moved into a new office in South Shields to accommodate its expanding workforce and opened an office in the US earlier this year.

The office moves follow strong turnover in the financial year ending March 2019, with £1.67 million in revenue fuelled by new contract wins with international contractors in sectors such as oil and gas.

The firm believes it is on a growth footing to achieve £2.7 million in 2020 and is planning to increase headcount to meet increasing demand.

With a network of 2500 inspectors, operating in more than 60 countries, NECIT delivers inspection, audit and expediting services for large-scale engineering projects around the world.

The US team based in Houston, Texas will support expansion into the American market.

Peter Lyons, founder and director of NECIT, said: “In the beginning we were just a team of two managing our global network of specialist inspectors.

“Originally from Hebburn, I’m now proud to open NECIT’s headquarters in the heart of South Tyneside.

“Over recent years we have experienced rapid growth allowing us to take on new challenges and talent whilst expanding into the US market.

“The current COVID-19 situation is a challenge but we’re proud to continue providing the expert key workers that are required to keep our vital energy and engineering industries operational.

“We feel optimistic about the future and our fantastic team are on track for another record-breaking year.”
