Newcastle building consultancy commits to new Leeds office

Silverstone Building Consultancy has signed a lease on an office suite in Leeds city centre, signalling the firm’s long-term commitment to its expansion into Yorkshire.

The Newcastle-headquartered building surveying and project management specialist, which has an office on Grey Street, was co-founded by directors Richard Farrey and Ben Hunter in 2009 and has since grown to employ 13 members of staff.

The firm announced its move into Leeds in March this year with the appointment of Ben Rennocks, formerly of CBRE, as a new director to spearhead its Leeds operations.

The firm has been operating from temporary serviced offices in the city but has now taken the 2nd floor of 40 Park Square, a Grade II listed building in the heart of Leeds city centre, where it says it will be looking to expand its team.

Richard Farrey, co-founder and director at Silverstone Building Consultancy, said: “Park Square is the ideal location for our new Leeds office, situated within the traditional business district of the city centre. Signing a longer-term lease demonstrates our commitment to establishing and growing our presence in Leeds and throughout Yorkshire.

“The office provides space to grow the team and we hope to add a senior building surveyor to the Leeds team within the first year. In Newcastle we have also just appointed a new graduate building surveyor.”

The vacant office space at 40 Park Square has recently undergone a comprehensive refurbishment to provide high quality office accommodation. The deal was secured by WSB Property Consultants.

Robin Beagley, partner at WSB Property Consultants said: “It’s great to see Silverstone expand into the Leeds market.  Their decision to open a new office in the city reflects the wider confidence we are seeing across the region’s commercial property sector.”

Silverstone recently announced the appointment of a non-executive director to help the firm through its next phase of growth. David Nurser, a former founder of Paragon Building Consultancy, which has offices in London, Manchester & Edinburgh, will be assisting Silverstone in bringing forward their longer-term plans.
