NHS contracts takes turnover to £12.5 million for HLA Services

A North East supplier of ventilation services and water hygiene management has made a successful start to 2021 securing NHS contracts worth more than £1 million.

HLA Services has seen growth across various divisions, including a 30 per cent increase in its mechanical contracts department and 10 per cent growth in its service maintenance division, taking turnover to £12.5 million.

In addition to the new NHS contracts, the company also recently secured a three-year maintenance contract with Northumbria Police and fire service.

Located in Boldon, HLA employs over 100 people and has satellite offices in Teesside, Cumbria and North Yorkshire and works across numerous sectors including construction, manufacturing, retail, education and hospitality.

Company director Paul Smith said: “We are pleased to be heading into the second quarter of the year on a positive note. Following a successful tender process, we have secured work on a number of NHS projects across the UK.

“This includes mechanical services and ventilation to the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Macclesfield, Manchester Royal Infirmary and Darlington Memorial Hospital.

“Work to Darlington Memorial Hospital is split over two phases, which will see the team refurbish the outpatients building, supplying heating, ventilation and plumbing work. The second phase will include refurbishing the maternity theatre.

“Leading the work is contract manager, Mark Charlton, on the mechanical services with project manager, Michael Oliver looking after ventilation.”

HLA director Neil Henry added: “The skill set and depth we have within the team is highlighted through the contracts we are securing.

“We are ambitious and have laid down solid foundations, as we build on an excellent blend of experience and talent as we keep moving forward.”
