North East firm launches bespoke programme to attract future tech talent

One of the region’s fastest growing digital companies is changing the game for students, graduates and career switchers with its new bespoke programme for nurturing unharnessed talent.

With a bold ambition to be the first choice employer in the North East, Bede Gaming is offering upcoming talent a route into the tech arena which is designed to empower them to take charge of their career, through gaining practical skills and experience working in its Gosforth office.

Coined as The BU Programme, it is open to students, graduates and anyone looking for a route into the tech industry through placements, work experience, practical projects and internships, whether your interest is commercial, operational or engineering focused.

The company will work closely with successful applicants to create a pathway suited to their aspirations and areas they’re keen to upskill in or experience for the first time. Internships and graduate programmes will be paid opportunities.

Natalie Pattison, who recently joined Bede as the company’s first brand ambassador straight from graduating university, explains the decision to launch The BU Programme was made after spotting a gap in the market. This came from high interest for graduate positions and speaking to students at careers events on what they are looking for from companies and potential employers.

Commenting on the programme, Natalie said:
“We like to do things differently at Bede and are breaking away from a one size fits all offering as part of our drive to encourage more people to explore a career in tech. The BU Programme is all about harnessing the uniqueness of the individual, upskilling, and allowing candidates to own their career journey with us.

“As a recent graduate myself, I know it can be a difficult decision to choose a career path before having experienced the industry, or getting a foot in the door with a company you’re really passionate about, which is where The BU Programme is helping to bridge the gap.”

Many of Bede’s current workforce joined the company fresh from college or university, growing with the business and taking the next steps in their careers. One example of this is Liam Swinney who over the last five years has progressed to become a lead software engineer. Liam is encouraged to pursue his interests in inspiring the next generation of tech talent, including hosting workshops and giving guest lectures for students.

Alex Butcher, managing director of Bede Gaming, added:
“The BU Programme is an exciting step in the right direction to help the tech stars of tomorrow realise their talents and passion for the industry. It is one of the cornerstones for our current growth plan, which is taking Bede into new global markets. It’s critical that we can attract and nurture bright individuals with a willingness to learn.

“We are an inclusive company and champion talented people no matter their experience level. Applicants should share our values of being pioneering, open and driven.  Many of our current workforce joined us as graduates or in the emerging stages of their careers and have climbed the ranks, so the opportunity is there for the taking.”

Applications for The BU Programme are now open. To apply, email [email protected] before 13th February.
