North East Times’ strengthen team

North East Times has welcomed two key appointments following the announcement that the innovative publishing company will produce Contact – a regional business publication owned by North East England Chamber of Commerce – from March 2019

Eamonn Leavey (pictured left) strengthens the team as a business ambassador, while Colin Rutherford (picture right) joins the commercial team as business development manager.

Eamonn has over 30 years of management experience and has grown a vast North East network in his previous role, heading up the North East England Chamber of Commerce’s Presidents’ Club.

In a newly created role for North East Times, Eamonn will support the growth and development of the key client base of both North East Times and Contact, facilitating the expansion of the publishing company’s regional network.

Eamonn commented: “I’m delighted to be joining the team. I have kept a close eye on the growth and development of North East Times over recent years. The opportunity to help showcase a business that has the success of the region close to its heart is really motivating for me. It’s also particularly pleasing that I will keep close links to the North East England Chamber of Commerce through Contact magazine, after many years promoting their regional agenda.”

Colin Rutherford has over 30 years of experience in publishing, having begun his career at Thomson Regional Newspapers where he spent a successful decade.

Colin joins the team as business development manager and will have an integral role in supporting with the re-launch of a newly invigorated Contact magazine early this year.

He commented: “The move to the North East Times team is very exciting for me. I’m looking forward to helping clients find solutions to their marketing needs through North East Times and Contact.”

Managing director Peter Mallon added: “Since relaunching North East Times in November 2015, the title has gone from strength-to-strength and we have already demonstrated our capability in producing contract publications – partnering with industry-led tech network organisation Dynamo and public-private partnership NewcastleGateshead Initiative to create bespoke, high-impact contract publications.

“The team and I at were ecstatic when we heard we’d won the tender to produce Contact – an established publication for a renowned organisation that has done so much to support and promote the region’s businesses.

“I am thrilled to welcome Eamonn and Colin to the team, and I am sure their expertise and experience will only strengthen our offering as we kick-off an exciting 2019.”
