Outstanding achievement for Teesside hospital

A Teesside hospital has been awarded the highest possible rating of excellence by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), a governing body that ensures health and social care services in England provide individuals with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care

Nuffield Health Tees Hospital, which is located in Norton, received an ‘outstanding’ rating following a two-day inspection at which inspectors and specialist advisors were impressed by all hospital practices including governance, surgery and outpatients.

The report indicates that above all elements, the hospital’s treatment of patients was exemplary, with them being placed at the heart of the organisation by all members of staff, as well as having services planned and developed to meet their needs including flexibility, choice and continuity of care through access to post-surgical therapy services.

Sharon Robinson, matron at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital, the only independent hospital north of Leeds with an ‘outstanding’ grade, said: “This rating recognises the exceptional care we deliver on a daily basis.

“We are extremely proud of the team and the hard work that has led to this achievement. We are all fully committed to maintaining this standard and rating in the future.”

The inspection also recognised the dedicated and proactive leadership team, who were reported as having ‘an inspiring shared purpose and aim to motivate staff to succeed’.

Hospital Director, Lesley Lock, said of her senior management team: “The rating is testament to the strength of characters we have here at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital and to the common goal of offering the best possible care to our patients and staff.”

This news sees 94 per cent of Nuffield Health hospitals reviewed by regulators to date to have a rating of good or outstanding.
