Plans approved for office development on Baja Beach Club site

Gateshead Council have approved plans for premium office space on the site of the former Baja Beach Club.

The 29,245 sq. ft office space, submitted to the council by Adderstone Group, will have a full height glass frontage giving views directly across the River Tyne.

Located on Gateshead Quayside, Baja Beach Club was a popular nightclub that closed its doors in 2008 and has been sitting dormant on prime development space ever since.

Adderstone Group has been working with Ryder Architecture and Gateshead Council on the office proposals.

The redevelopment of the site will contribute to the ongoing revitalisation of Gateshead Quayside that began with the Sage and BALTIC and was recently boosted by the opening of By The River Brew Co.

It is also hoped that the new £260 million Gateshead Arena will be the crowning jewel in this effort, with plans to be delivered by 2023.

Adderstone Group CEO, Ian Baggett said: “I’d like to thank Ryder Architecture and Gateshead Council for sharing and supporting our vision to reshape this prominent site on the Quayside.

“We hope to start work immediately, employing hundreds of local lads on what is a very technical project to deliver one of the coolest office developments in the region.”
