Rail operator Stadler to lay out UK plans at EMCON

A Swiss rail sector manufacturer will outline its plans for the UK at a North East business expo later this week.

Stadler will speak to delegates about its projects in East Anglia, Liverpool, Glasgow and Wales at EMCON.

It will also update on current orders for new trains and the service and maintenance element of its contracts.

EMCON, organised by the Engineering and Manufacturing Network, will welcome more than 1000 visitors and 100 exhibiting companies to Newton Aycliffe’s Xcel Centre on Thursday, October 10 to celebrate the region’s excellence in the two sectors.

Formerly known as Durham Oktoberfest, EMCON offers guests the chance to network with engineers, manufacturers and service providers to gain an insight into opportunities across the local supply chain.

Stadler, which has more than 40 service locations in 18 countries, will be one of the companies on display, with Neil Heaton, Stadler Rail Service UK head of fleet maintenance, scheduled to give a presentation.

Neil will also take part in this year’s EMCON maintenance forum.

Ben Gilhespy, operations director at the Engineering and Manufacturing Network, said: “Stadler Rail UK are undergoing a period of significant growth and the North East is a key region for them.

“This year, they’ll specifically be giving an insight into what their plans look like and how companies in our region can tap into the opportunities which could be available through Stadler’s supply chain.

“For any businesses or visitors attending that think they could capitalise, this session is a ‘must-attend’.”
