Record results for Durham School

Durham School is celebrating record A level results

11 students scored three or more A* and A grades and 70% of the grades achieved this year were A*, A or B which is a tremendous achievement by the students and continues the upward trajectory the school has been on in recent years.

Two students are taking up their places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities while others are going to institutions as diverse as the Royal Veterinary College, Guildhall School of Acting and many Russell Group universities.

Twins Gabi and Lauren Watson, 18, are both celebrating great results. Gabi got 3 A’s and will go to Exeter to study Politics. Lauren got 2 A*, A and B and is going to East Anglia to study Medicine.

Sophie Hogg, 18, will go to Oxford to read French and Spanish after getting 2 A* and A.

Danny Paterson,18, got 3A’s and will be studying Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Vet College in London.

Cameron Fyfe, 18, got 3A’s and is going to St Andrew’s to study Geography.

Headmaster Kieran McLaughlin said, “We are delighted with the results for the pupils at Durham School this year.

“Durham School has a great track record of results at A Level and it is fantastic that these are the best results ever in the history of Durham.

“This is the second year in a row that results have topped 70% in the crucial A*- B grades which is so important for students getting into the best universities.

“We are delighted that so many students have achieved the grades they need to go on to higher education in the courses and institutions of their choice.”
