Shoe retailer marches forward with plans for expansion

North East family footwear retailer Charles Clinkard is growing its national footprint by adding four new southern concessions to its portfolio.

The latest additions have opened in Sidmouth, Axminster, Dorchester and Newton Abbot – new locations for the nationwide shoe retailer.

The new concessions are expected to add an extra £900,000 to the company’s bottom line turnover annually.

Charles Clinkard, managing director, said: “As we continue to expand across the country from our North East base, we’re delighted to open our new concessions in such desirable locations.

“We’ve welcomed new staff in some stores and their industry expertise and local knowledge will be a huge asset.”

The concessions have opened in Fields of Sidmouth, Trinity House Axminster, Goulds Dorchester and Austins Newton Abbot. They will offer well-known brands such as Barbour, Gabor, Josef Seibel and Loake.

Charles added: “We know from experience how important an in-store experience is to our customers.

“For that reason, we’ll continue to invest in bricks and mortar to avoid further empty spaces in the UK’s under-pressure high street.”

Since starting in the North East more than 90 years ago, the company has gone from strength to strength and is now a nationwide success with more than 30 stores and 11 concessions across the UK.
