Stuart Hall & Co celebrates 10 years in business

North East accountancy firm Stuart Hall & Co is celebrating a decade of growth after expanding its network and team.

The company was set up in 2009 by Stuart Hall and has since grown across three branches employing 16 members of staff.

The firm’s head office is in Bishop Auckland, adding to the growing professional services cluster across the Tees Valley.

With other branches in Stockton and the Scottish Borders, the firm aims to offer clients the best service possible in a location that suits them.

Stuart Hall said: “I launched the firm from a bedroom at home and we’ve grown organically since then.

“In the past year, we’ve taken on an accountant and two apprentices – one in accounting and one in administration. We’re also planning to recruit another apprentice for the Stockton office very soon.”

The firm is committed to creating training and skills opportunities for staff. Out of 16 employees, three have done full apprenticeships, with a further four working their way through the programme at the moment.

Stuart added: “We like to hire apprentices as we’re passionate about seeing people meet their potential; that’s how I started and it’s wonderful to help people get to where they want to be.”

Looking ahead to the next ten years, Stuart hopes to keep up the momentum, planning more recruitment and an expansion of the branch network.

He said: “We believe in the personal approach and having a network of smaller offices, as opposed to one larger base, fits in with that.

“Our growth to date has all been due to word of mouth, and we believe our personal approach, and investment in local talent, stands us in good stead for the future.”
