Technology aids Walton Robinson’s progress despite COVID-19 lockdown

A property firm has hailed the impact of technology as it battles the coronavirus crisis.

Walton Robinson says online tools, such as virtual building tours, are helping maintain interest from prospective purchasers and tenants.

Despite COVID-19’s impact almost halving activity for the time of year, officials say its technology is making a tangible difference to business.

Such has been its effect that several properties have been let for the summer, including one that was concluded less than 24 hours after being posted on the company’s website.

In addition, current tenants have helped by hosting live video tours via FaceTime and Skype, which has helped rental property investors unable to visit due to lockdown restrictions.

Mark Walton, managing director of the Newcastle-based business, said: “There are signs that renters and investors are looking beyond the current crisis and are planning for the future.

“This is encouraging while we are in such a tough marketplace.

“The use of technology has been key alongside the experience and support of our team, to enable potential purchasers and tenants to virtually get in and around the properties to make informed decisions.

“I am optimistic that as we emerge from lockdown, activity will increase further and bring some buoyancy back into the Newcastle property market.

“I also think this period will solidify the use of the property viewing technology in the rental sector as a valuable tool for both property owners and their tenants.”
