The Algorithm People appoints growth specialist as new chair

Route optimisation platform The Algorithm People has strengthened its board of director with the appointed of growth specialist Diane Cheesebrough.

Taking up the role of chair at the Newcastle-based company, Diane has experience in leading, advising and supporting start-ups and SMEs.

A qualified banker, she has worked across a diverse range of industries including financial services, business process outsourcing, helpdesks, mobile telecommunications, language service provision, technology, construction, facilities management, and local government.

Colin Ferguson, CEO of The Algorithm People, said: “We are delighted to have Diane as chair of our board. She brings a huge amount of experience and has a fantastic track record of helping high-growth companies like ours to achieve their goals.”

The Algorithm People is the company behind My Transport Planner, a web-based, pay-as-you-go route optimisation platform, designed for commercial vehicle operators.

The algorithms within the platform calculate the most efficient routes and schedules for daily operations, delivering savings of up to 20 per cent of total fleet mileage, and overall cost savings of up to 30 per cent.

The company is also an expert in electric vehicle (EV) optimisation, helping fleets to identify which vehicles and routes are best suited to electrification.

Once the EVs are deployed, the software ensures that fleets get the best possible environmental and financial return on investment from them.

In addition to The Algorithm People, Diane is also a board member of Bloom Procurement Services and Proxismart.

She said: “The Algorithm People is a great business that has a truly innovative solution for the road transport sector. It’s a very exciting time to come on board and I am looking forward to helping the company fulfil its huge potential.”
