A brewery founder has urged customers to “watch this space” for new developments after the business enjoyed a record year.
Tyne Bank Brewery, the independent brewery and tap room, reported a ten per cent increase in turnover for 2019.
With the figure nearing £750,000 at the end of the year, founder Julia Austin says she has further plans to maintain its growth, having recently added an online shop and collaborations with London Beer Factory, Tyne Rivers Trust and Ouseburn Farm.
Citing her team’s hard work and the support of the local community as integral factors in the brewery’s success, Julia says the business’ events offering will also be crucial.
Staple events already include beer festivals and dog and family socials, and the brewery previously held a vegan festival that attracted more than 2000 people, with corporate bookings also proving popular.
“The financial year was a record for the brewery and our figures represent incredible hard work and determination from all members of our team,” says Julia.
“When we decided to move from a 2000sq ft warehouse to a 14000sq ft brewery in 2016, we knew we had to up our game and the community has been incredibly welcoming.
“The growth has exceeded all expectations.
“Our focus will always be on producing high-quality, innovative craft beers, but the success of our events has led us to also develop a strong event brand in the heart of the North East.
“We’re stepping into 2020 with a dedicated team and bright outlook. All I can say is watch this space.”
2019 also saw the brewery upgrade its AV equipment, hire an additional full-time master brewer and partner with food vendor Kogarashi to bring Asian food to the venue all year round.
