Womble Bond Dickinson supports Team Tyne Innovation’s Atlantic Challenge

Transatlantic law firm, Womble Bond Dickinson, is delighted to have supported Team Tyne Innovation in the successful completion of the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge, the world’s toughest rowing race.

The challenge involved 30 teams who participated from around the world to row 3,000 miles west from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands (28ON 180W) to Nelson’s Dockyard English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda (170N 61OW).

Team Tyne Innovation, led by Phil Kite, began the race in early December and completed it in 42 days and 10 hours – arriving at the finish point last night (23 January).

Last year, WBD showcased the Team Tyne Innovation boat and team as part of its celebration event at the Wylam Brewery as a great example of North East innovation.

Kevin Robertson, Partner and Head of Newcastle, comments: “We are extremely proud of Phil and the team on their incredible achievement. Many congratulations to them for breaking the world record as the fastest mixed four, showcasing North East innovation as well as raising funds for North East and national charities. We are proud sponsors and look forward to welcoming the team back to the North East in the near future.”

Ranking in the Top 20 law firms and with its largest office in Newcastle, WBD provide legal expertise in eleven key sectors from across eight offices in the UK and 19 offices in the US.
