Designer Flooring – Adding a new dimension to our treasured retreats

Our homes are so much more than bricks and mortar.

They are a spiritual sanctuary from the world, a place for relaxation, reflection and celebration, a space for our families to grow and thrive.

So, it’s perhaps natural we want our respective emotional refuges to look and feel their best, to provide comfort and warmth when we need it most.

And increasing numbers of people are achieving such thanks to Designer Flooring.

Launched in 2018, as part of the Karpet Mills Group, the endeavour – which has supported the multi-million-pound refurbishment of Northumberland’s grand Matfen Hall hotel – is a market-leader in providing coverings that add new dimensions to our treasured retreats.

Its 10,000sq ft showroom – at Newcastle’s Kingston Park – holds the North East’s largest selection of the finest brands across premium carpets, luxury vinyl tile, and solid and engineered wood.

Boasting partnerships with a number of famous brands including Woodpecker, Quick Step, Amtico and Hugh Mackay, it takes choice to another level.

Indeed, a partnership with the latter two firms enables customers to use software to create tailored carpet and flooring styles, with visual representations of their choices set against the backdrop of their own homes.

And its range and quality was showcased in a recent fitting, where a hall and stairway were completely transformed.

In the hallway/entrance area, Designer Flooring’s highly experienced and knowledgeable advisors and fitters helped install Goodrich Smoked Oak engineered wood, from Woodpecker Flooring, in herringbone style.

The stairway was given a bespoke runner using Flatweave Classic Herringbone, from Devon-based carpet maker Fibre.

Navy colour taping, also in herringbone, was used to bind the runner’s edges, with the stair carpet finished using the Windsor stair rod range, from Stairrods (UK).

Homeowners Jacqui and Richard Brown were delighted with the finished look.

Jacqui said: “We really wanted a natural product that would last for years, and was in keeping with the property.

“The Designer Flooring team had a fantastic selection, and the fitting team were very professional.

“The runner was made to our selection using tapes to give us the colour match we wanted.

“Overall, we are delighted with the service and the finished product.”

Richard added: “It’s pleasing to see the difference the Designer Flooring team has made to our home.

“The whole process was straightforward, efficient and great value for money.”
