Encora Energy supports £7 million power plant work

An engineering services consultancy is helping drive forward £7 million power projects.

Encora Energy is supporting the roll out of gas-fired peaking plants in Sunderland and Peterlee, east Durham.

Often known as ‘peakers’, the power plants are run during periods of high electricity demand to balance the grid.

Having helped development bosses identify sites and oversee the factories’ construction, Stockton-based Encora now stands primed to aid their operation.

Andrew Normand, Encora business development director [pictured, above], said: “Britain is on a mission to create a green electricity system, but as we transition we need to deal with the variability of renewable energy.

“These efficient gas-fired peaking plants are there to provide additional energy to top up the system in periods of low wind and solar generation.

Encora provides project development, engineering, consultancy and operations management services to clients across renewable and battery storage systems, combined heat and power plants, fuel cells, gas engines and gas turbines.
