GLC Projects on growth trail after Hartlepool UKSE office move

A demolition and asbestos removal firm has set its sights on growth following an office expansion.

GLC Projects aims to double turnover to £5 million in two years and add to its 20-strong team after switching to UKSE’s Innovation Centre, in Hartlepool.

Known for site clearance, mechanical demolition, dismantling and material processing, the business also delivers civil engineering work.

Counting North Yorkshire Council, hospitals, local authorities, schools, development corporations and Strabag UK as clients, it recently secured its largest contract to date with Northumbrian Water Group, which will see it work on projects for up to 12 years.

Founder Graeme Cochrane, a Chartered engineer and surveyor, said: “Demolition, decommissioning and asbestos removal are particularly specialised jobs, and our aim is to be one of the main players in specialist enabling works.

“The Innovation Centre is an ideal environment for us, and we may well be needing additional space quite soon.

“The facilities and support from the UKSE team are excellent, and mean we can concentrate on growing the business.”

Joan Cook, UKSE workspace manager, added: “It is good to hear GLC Projects is doing so well and planning to create more jobs.

“We will do everything we can to see they have the space and support they need to do that.”
