Integra 61’s Connect development reaches construction milestone

Work on a £400 million commercial hub’s industrial park has passed the half-way point.

Builders have erected steel frames for factories on the Connect estate.

Set on the Integra 61 development, off the A1 near Bowburn, in County Durham, Connect includes a 298,000sq ft standalone plant and four warehouses.

Work is being overseen by Stockton-based contractor GMI Construction Group, with completion earmarked for the summer.

David Cullingford, Integra 61 project lead, said: “To see the steel frames complete and cladding progressing apace is hugely important, as it takes us a step closer to easing chronic shortages of high-quality industrial accommodation in the North East.”

Matthew Stevens, Sunrise Real Estate head of development, added: “We are very pleased to see the Connect units steadily progressing towards completion.

“The units provide high-quality industrial and logistics space at varying sizes, servicing local businesses and residents and creating meaningful job opportunities for the community.”

Integra 61 already includes an Amazon distribution base, as well as Greggs and Costa drive-thrus, with Miller and Persimmon housing developments primed to deliver more than 200 properties.
