MGM Construction completes triple Gateshead care home contract

A construction firm has completed a £1.4 million medical contract.

MGM Construction has upgraded three Everyturn Mental Health care homes.

The renovations – to sites in Gateshead – included redecoration, flooring and remedial electrical works, as well as nurse call system, door and alarm replacement.

Ryan Gardiner, director at Gateshead-based MGM, said: “The project has provided a better environment for patients while ensuring systems are in line with current regulations.

“It was challenging, in terms of keeping the homes fully operational while upgrading the mechanical and electrical services, and some works were done out-of-hours to minimise disruption and ensure we completed on time.

“Mental health services are a niche area with enhanced specifications we can deliver, and we are passionate about supporting local community services like this in the North East.”

Ryan added MGM is now working on behalf of NTW Solutions, a subsidiary of Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, on a £3.3 million project at Morpeth’s Northgate Hospital.

Alex Slack, Everyturn Mental Health’s head of estates and facilities, said: “It was crucial we appointed a contractor that understood our mission and organisational values.

“We are delighted with the way MGM has undertaken this work, paying due regard throughout to the welfare of our colleagues and the people we support.”
