More than 20 jobs planned in YUMe World’s ‘UK first’ Durham expansion

More than 20 jobs are set to be created with the launch of a £1.3 million “UK first-of-its-kind” entertainment venture.

YuMe World Durham will open in March.

The endeavour, based on the city’s Riverwalk complex, will combine an arcade centre with a desserts restaurant.

Building on the success of an existing Newcastle site, bosses say the Durham expansion will deliver 25 jobs.

John Sullivan, YuMe World Group managing director, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time as we introduce our first desserts offering alongside our entertainment experience in one of the country’s most historic and stunning cities.

“I am genuinely thrilled to offer families, students and visitors a first-class leisure venue.”

He added: “The harmonious blend of competitive socialising and the indulgence in luxurious desserts signifies a pioneering experience.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re six or 60 – adults experience a nostalgic thrill from arcade family fun that transports them back to their own childhood days.”
