Places for People launches major property works programme

A social housing organisation has revealed multi-million-pound property refurbishment plans.

Places for People is rolling out upgrades across its North East portfolio.

The operator, which has rental properties across the region, says the four-year scheme will “deliver sustainable homes and communities”.

Working alongside contractor Wates, it adds the venture will create full-time and apprenticeship roles, training places and placements.

Mark Arnold, Places for People’s director of asset strategy and investment, said: “This programme is a response to customer needs, exceeding regulatory requirements.

“It will generate thousands of new opportunities for customers in the next four years, and I look forward to working with people in and around our communities as the concept becomes a reality.

“We have listened to customers in the North East – through their queries, complaints or surveys – and are making evidence-based decisions.”

Stewart Reid, Wates’ managing director for its central and north maintenance division, added: “We are very proud to be growing our portfolio through our work with Places for People.”
